SciFantasy Art Dump

I haven't done an art dump in a while so why not show off the card game I'm currently designing? Six elements, starting now... Air Death Earth Fire Life Water

Gaming Unplugged 3: Perry Rhodan

As some feedback to my last review, I was tasked with doing something more obscure than a Settlers of Catan spinoff a mere three weeks old. And so hopefully this fits the bill. Perry Rhodan was a popular series of novels (starting in 196...

Gaming Unplugged 2: Settlers of America

If you're even remotely close to the Euro Board Game scene, you may have heard of the Settlers of Catan. How you feel about the game is entirely dependant upon your feelings on randomness and your initial startup. One of the main complai...

Magic: Fail of the Planeswalkers PC

As some may know, Duel of the Planewalkers came out on PC via Steam. Well, sort of. I was one of those people eagerly refreshing the storefront to plunk down some money (three days after the listing went live, you could actually preorder ...

Back to Card Design Art Blog 3&8: Improving a Prototype

This is an update to two different blog series I was doing. The first being the art blog that leads the bulk of this update and the second being my card game design blog. Last card game design blog update can be found here. http://www.de...

Back To basics Art Blog 7: Maor Gurls

What can I say? They are my weakness so I'm going to keep busting out on this aspect for a bit. Starting with some basic heads. Some of you may recognize Rachel Summers, but doubtful. Also did a couple generic 80s Cyberpunk characters. ...

Gathering Magic: But They Keep Pulling Me Back In!

Yesterday, I did something stupid. I went to my local gaming shop (Armored Gopher Games) and joined their Friday Night Magic event. For $25, players got 2 boosters packs of Worldwake, Rise of the Eldrazi, and Zendakir. From there, you h...

Back to Basics Art Blog 6: Moar Female Practice

I suppose I should start things off more conventionally ugly. These are a couple quick character designs for a board game concept. Then we go into the first page of females this week. God I suck... but here are some more. And a specia...

Section 8 Quick Impressions

Tuesday I alerted fellow DToiders that Section 8, a highly Tribes looking game, was on sale for $14.99 on PSN. Perhaps motivated by the potential for fellow dtoids to orbital drop on, I purchased and decided to play some while it was still...

Back to Basics Art Blog 4: Conventional Delays

Last weekend I went to the Geekway to the West board gaming convention in St. Louis. Because of this, I didn't get as much time over the weekend drawing. In fact, if you caught me between games, you might have seen me drawing one of the t...

Back to Basics Art Blog 3: Burning up Pencils

I suppose with the third edition of this diggety, I should make a confession about it's alternative purpose. At any given time, I know 3-5 people who say "I can't draw." To which I typically say "Just F'ing draw and you'll get there." So...

Back to Basics Art Blog 2: Even More Bald Heads

Continuing along the path of further improving my art skills, I continue my simple angle sketches. This week, however, I start on one of my main handicaps... females. But first, I did one last page of male heads. Maybe if I draw a whole...

First Impressions: Runebound Boardgame

On Saturday, I tried out a board game called Runebound with a friend, who called it quits after 3 1/2 hours of gametime. It had two of it's main designs which appealed to me. The first being the aspect that it's completely playable singl...

Back to Basics Art Blog 1: Simply Ahead

Long ago, I fancied myself a pretty good artist. I pushed this agenda forward until I got into 3D art but my passion has always been traditional. Through the years, as my 3D skills increased, my 2D skills suffered. Now I'm going back to ...

Goodbye Linux or Why We Can't Have Nice Things

Sony has caught a lot of flack, including from the most recent Podtoid for chopping Linux support from the PS3. GeoHat is mad because he never intended to allow piracy, etc and so forth and has sworn hatred of Sony and a new mission to bu...

Card Game Design Diary Chapter 2: A New Playtest

I'm writing this for people who may or may not have an interest in such things. If you enjoy card games, this may be of great interest to you. Basically the intent is to show my progress in developing a card game. Like video games, you'...

Card Game Design Diary: Chapter 1

I writing this for people who may or may not have an interest in such things. If you enjoy card games, this may be of great interest to you. Basically the intent is to show my progress in developing a card game. Like video games, you'd ...

Sony Vs. Pirates: On The Defense

Included in the release of SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3 for PSP is a code, unless you buy it directly off PSN. This code is good for one redemption and it's valid for the online modes within the game. Essentially, without the code, you have t...

Unofficial Official 2009 Negs Awards

Let's face it, it's fun to bitch and 2009 gave gamers a LOT to bitch about. Like 2009 awards coming out in late January, for instance. These are the exceptionally wonderous missteps and gamer abortions that occurred during 2009. So let's...

Gaming Unplugged 1: Tsuro: The Game of the Path

Tsuro: The Game of the Path is one of those games that most people should just have on hand. It's fun, simple, tension filled, quick setup and tear down, fast, and addictive. Sounds great? It is, but let me tell you why. The game inclu...

Overlooked Gems 1: Field Commander

Can we call PSP a good system again? I can never tell, it goes in waves. One thing I can tell you, however, is this game hit during one of the waves in which PSP was crap and horrible and a joke. Which is tragic because this is possibly...

MAG: Massively Astranged Game

When I first heard of MAG, by Zipper, I thought, "wow, technically impressive but I hates me some SOCOM." So I stepped back and didn't worry about it, just waited for more info. Info struck fast and hard and I even got into the Beta. I a...

Sacred Cow Slaughter 2: Citizen Kane of Gaming

Believe it or not, there are gamers out there who desire legitimacy of our medium. They pin all of their hopes on a single concept, the Citizen Kane of Gaming. No one ever says "The Annie Hall of Gaming" or "The Apocalypse Now of Gaming...

Fighting Card Game Playtest GO!

On Sunday Night, at Armored Gopher Games, in Urbana IL, my card game made it's debut. The community at AG was very welcoming to the concept in general and I was able to get some valuable feedback from those who playtested. So, you may be...

What HAVE I been working on....

Well, it's been a while since I did a blog post but I've been distacted, see. I'm designing a card game. What it is, I cannot say. What it's themed after, I cannot say. How does it play? No clue yet, building a deck as we speak. So wh...

Batman: I'll need an Asylum after all this.

I work at a Flight Simulation company and because of this, my company is ALWAYS buying the latest greatest video cards which of course come with the latest and greatest game pack-ins. These stacks of games tend to get lotteried off to wor...

About sheppyone of us since 7:01 AM on 09.16.2008

I suppose since one of my stories has been promoted, I'm on the spot to get off my lazy ass and describe myself. I'm a 3D modeler working on Flight Simulators by day, a doodlin nerd by night. I try to remain without system biases but let's face it, no one can do that. I do want to apologize for some of my terrible grammar. I'm hoping to correct this issue as time goes on. I want to get better.

As to which games games I'm into, which ones am I not into is a more apt question. I'm a collector with a fairly massive collection. And, maybe as time rolls on, I'll fill more of this out.
