turbo/slo-mo controllers, did anyone have them growing up? were they of any real use in any game? I think i remember using one at a friend house, we played LttP with it, and the slo-mo would just cause the start/item menu to continuously come up and down.

Status update: Hurts to hiccup

Sunday vibes. Currently playing: Whatagirlgonnamuthafuckindoo by The Coup and Janelle Monae

Got the wind knocked out of me skating at the trans (as in ppl, not transfers) skate club meetup today. Cool ppl, great set up at a diy indoor skatepark. But yeah, felt like my lung collapsed. Slammed my chest right on a Spine transfer. Gonna hurt tmrw

I had a great Turkey day. I gobble gobble all dem thangs. And Fri was super chill, as was this whole week. I have a slew of things to handle on Monday, I'm sure, but that's for Monday me to fret about. Trans sk8 club meet tomorrow, excited to shred some

was busy yesterday, but had a great time. I am thankful for my mom taking the hard journey with two kids and no real plan, from one country of stolen land to another, to give us a better life, which she did. rest in power, ma

yall have a good one, gobble gobble all dem thangs

Got Disey's Aladdin for the SNES. The carpet level can suck it. But so can the music; why does this game have an annoying soundtrack? Also why does the OST remind me of Demon's Crest, same composer or sound library?

I'm gonna be off all next week. Feels good, mang, but I have no idea what's in store, have made no plans, but I'll prob do a few chores and SKATE! I Miss falling off my board lol

Where's the Twitter bethesda spoof post with a blue check saying that they were wrong, they are dumb poopooheads, Mick was right, and that they will no longer be doing any paid dlc so that their stock plummets

What happened to that game/tech demo Squeenix announced some years ago to showcase the new engine they built? Even dtoid covered it here, but never heard from it again. Is that For spoken now? Can't remember what it was called or if it was just a demo

FF 3/6 review thus far, after playing for 1.5 hours: is enjoyable. FF8: 50+ hrs, cool but spend most of the time in menus thinking about them junctions. Like the story, world, and characters so far, Squall is slightly less insufferable than Cloud.

When is Final Fantasy too much fantasy?

after revisiting nu/alt/pop metal from the 90's, certain bands like SOAD and RATM really stood out amongst the lot with their lyrics and musicality. As a teen, i loved their musicality mostly, but their lyrics (especially RATM's) going over my head

This Twitter shit, folks....pass the damn popcorn!! What a train wreck. The kinda direct action needed against some of these corporations, especially the twitch one about a new pay split scheme. I know it's amazon and they dgaf, but still kinda fun to see

i vated. wait. Vited? no, VOTED. i toted voday

man, work was just nothing but problems, in addition to training somebody with seemingly very little Life experience. But she comes from low means, giving her an honest chance, cuz im sure she hasn't had much. But im happy to relax this weekend

IPA update: I used to avoid all IPA's but i have found a few i like! Get Off My Lawn by Anderby Brewing, Hopsecutioner by Terrapin Brewing, and a few by Pontoon Brewery. Cool thing about Pontoon is that they are right by my house, less than 5 min away!

Here's another got take: Toy Story 4 is one of the most beautfully shot films. They went to great lengths to get a virtual lens to act like a real one, from depth of field, framing, and color, to action shots and lighting effects. Best looking Pixar film.

Hot movie takes: vfx, color correction, and other post production has made movies look flat and ugly since the early 00's, progressively worse as the Marvel Films marched on, but also lets give those vfx artists PTO once in a while

it took Spotify 7 fucking years to realize, yes, i do like NIN, Primus, GZA, Del the Funky homosapien, Slipknot, Korn, and The Coup, and similar ilk, and that i want them in one station i dont have to choose the songs for. it's called 90's Mix

I'm officially obsessed with FF8, but playing it on my CRT tv past 10 pm puts me to sleep, and I keep waking up to game over screens. I actually lost some minor progress last night.

Man I hate how everything is green screen nowadays. How do matte paintings in 80s movies hold up better visually than how flat and color corrected to hell films and shows of today. Get off my lawn!

Wow, I saw one of the best shows I've ever seen. The Gorillaz fucking delivered. Hit after hit, and just as we're walking away during the end ors, del the funky homsapien starts performing Rosk the house and Clint Eastwood. Holy shit. Feeling so good rn

No regrets with my naming. I DO regret sleeping on this game for so long. Drawing magic, managing GFs, and even the story, so far, are quite intriguing. Seems like a better game than ff7, even with it's characters. And the art direction is a surprise!

Dredge is too good of a game, the demo has me hooked! Mystery! Fishing! Inventory management! Ghost ships that are actually monstrous angler fishe that will destroy your ship!

Thanks for all the gays and queers, straights. Where would we be without you to birth us all

doom is just too fun. Thanks to Vadicta, for inspiring me to play it again. I tried to find it in my archives, but i only had doom 2, so i bought Doom full price at...5.99. Such a great shotgun. the music is great, too. even dl'd gzdoom and Sigil.

About cockaroachone of us since 5:06 PM on 10.15.2009

My favorite games meld music, art, and gameplay to enhance one another, elevating the product to something beyond mere "consumption"; it's an experience. Not everyone will like them, but they do gain a passionate following. Sorry if anything I said sounded pretentious, I am trying to be sincere. I love music and art, I've dabble in both for over 20 years now, so I appreciate games that put love into their art assets, animations, character design, level design, music, sound design, storytelling, and voice acting, even if the gameplay is simplistic (as long as it's fun!). These games also tend to feel nice- the control has a certain snap to it, enhanced by the visual and audio cues. This list may be biased towards my adolescence and childhood favorites from the SNES and N64/PSX days, so bare with me: you will see a lot of retro favorites. If your favorite is not on the list, it's probably because i didn't play it as a child/adolescent, or as an adult, for that matter.

In a somewhat random order:
Chrono Trigger
Super Smash Bros Melee
World of Warcraft (Classic/Vanilla)
Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
Dark Souls
Demon's Souls
Banjo Kazooie
Katamari Damacy
Shadows of the Colossus
Commander Keen: Goodbye Galaxy
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Super Meat Boy
Donkey Kong Country
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Human Fall Flat
World of Horror
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
Super Mario Odyssey
Metal Slug 3
Tokyo Jungle (an odd one, for sure, but i love it so)
