Featuring Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back for NES and Franz Schubert.
Greetings fellow game music lovers,
I decided to put Lufia on the low flame for the time being and now plan on doing a smaller series of less known games during the summer months. How about something from Star Wars? This years Obi Wan series is still carrying the banner and apparently it had some satisfying stuff in the end?
Anyways, for cooling off from the heat a little trip to the ice planet Hoth might be appropriate. So, Empire Strikes Back for NES (1992) it is this time.
As you know, the game has a nice little cue called "Danger Theme" that plays every time something horrible charges at you usually without you having time to react appropriately. Remember that grasshopper like thingy up in the trees in the first Dagobah level that sends you back to the very beginning if it pushes you off the platform? Yeah, thanks for the "warning". Anyways, here it is:
I cannot rule out that there is a cue in the movie soundtrack that sounds like this. Anyways, there is a recurring sequence in Franz Schuberts second piano sonata ( D.279 ) from 1815 that reminds me a lot of it:
I think I have some more NES games in the pipeline, let's see...
Phil out.
