Phils Game/Pop Music Similarities #224 - Fortunate Song

Greetings fellow game music lovers,
caribbean weeks continue and knowing Kondos fondness of the genre it was inevitable that we have a look at another song by him: The music of the local help guide aka the fortune teller in Zelda 3 - A Link to the Past (1991):
The caribbean nature of this song is evident not only by the prominent rhythmic structure but the lead instrument sounds like an electronic version of a calypsonian steel drum. One can find comparable rhythms all over the caribbean, usually in the background.
Consequently, first comes something from the home of Calypso: Trinidad and Tobago by Carl & Carol Jacobs:
