DS REVIEWS: Mega Man ZX Advent

For those reading one of my DS review blogs for the first time, here is the basic concept: The DS is one of the greatest consoles ever, and it had a massive games library. Despite playing a lot of DS games a huge number of great under-...

Saturn REVIEWS: Panzer Dragoon Saga

Few games in the Sega Saturn library have the almost mythical reputation of Panzer Dragoon Saga, an ambitious RPG game that arrived in the latter stages of the console's life and consequently didn't get as much attention as it deserved...

Saturn REVIEWS: Panzer Dragoon II Zwei

The Panzer Dragoon series is considered the most legendary and most technically impressive series on the Sega Saturn. Starting with the first game, which was just remade for modern consoles, I didn't get the appeal although I respect t...

Where the Hell is Trauma Center?

The unique control inputs of the Nintendo DS, coupled with its unexpected foray into new gaming demographics, both encouraged developers to try new kinds of games with the console. This lead to the birth of enduring franchises such as ...

Saturn REVIEWS: NiGHTS into Dreams

It is frankly surprising that Sega did not launch the Saturn with a Sonic the Hedgehog game. It becomes scandalous when you realize that the only Sonic game made for the console was outsourced to another company that naturally botched ...

Saturn REVIEWS: Radiant Silvergun

This is one game on the Saturn I played knowing pretty much that it would be good. After all both Shining Force games on the Genesis were very good and are among the top 10 games on that system.Originally, I wasn't planning to review a...

Saturn REVIEWS: The List (Update)

This is an update to the Saturn REVIEWS List. Please feel free to recommend games to play that are not included in the list, or suggest the reviewing of games that I decided not to review for one reason or another. With the Saturn, Seg...

Saturn REVIEWS REPORT: 20-11

As we approach the supposed pinnacle of Saturn videogames, we still see the familiar issues plaguing the console in its top 20-11 games as per the Retro Sanctuary list. At this stage, it should only be natural that there are at least t...

Saturn REVIEWS: Clockwork Knight 1 & 2

Out of every 10 platformers on the SNES and the Genesis, only 1 was good, and it most probably was not made on the Genesis. Generally, playing any random platformer at that time that isn't made by Nintendo is a huge gamble with your ti...

Top 10 Games I Played in 2019

Maybe 2019 did not deliver as much as 2018 and 2017, but many great games were released last year. From great sequels to established franchises like Fire Emblem: Three Houses to exciting new properties like The Outer Worlds. Hell, one ...

Saturn REVIEWS: Dragon Force

My story with Dragon Force begins a long time ago, maybe two or three years after its release, and I didn't know its name then. At the time, I saw some distant cousins of mine playing a weird device in my grandfather's house that was n...

Saturn REVIEWS REPORT: 30-21

At the top 30 games mark, the Retro Sanctuary Top Saturn games list must be expected to deliver some stellar games. Based on the three games I gave in-depth reviews off, I can say that all of these games may be historically important i...

Saturn REVIEWS: Burning Rangers

Burning Rangers is the kind of game that is difficult to dislike, even if it gives you every reason to do so. With date 3D polygonal graphics, stiff 3D controls that demand an analog stick, and some cheesy writing; here is a game that ...

Saturn REVIEWS: Astal

As one of the earlier games on the Saturn, Astal wasn't probably designed with that console in mind; the fact that it escaped the trappings of early 3D "advancements" being a proof of that. Yet, with its weird aesthetic, not even its b...

Saturn REVIEWS: Shining the Holy Ark

Other than the fact that it is part of the illustrious Shining series, and one of the few RPGs on the Saturn, I don't think that there is anything much remarkable about Shining the Holy Ark (other than such a grammatical mess of a name...

Saturn REVIEWS: Guardian Heroes

After playing and enjoying Guardian Heroes for a bit, a couple of people noted that the game was actually remastered for the Xbox 360 Live Arcade. That would technically disqualify this game from being reviewed as part of the Saturn Re...

Reviewing the Nintendo Wii

Realizing that they cannot rely on going toe to toe with Microsoft and Sony in the graphical arms race, Nintendo tried to side step the competition with their release of the Wii. In what their late president, Mr. Satoru Iwata, referred...

The Top 10 Wii Games:

Last month in June, I finished the final game in my Wii library. In total, I have owned about 50 Wii games and have played around 70 games. Before I started my Wii REVIEWS series, that number was short 26 games which I all played and r...

Saturn REVIEWS REPORT: 40-31

In reviewing the Top 40-31 of the Retro Sanctuary list, I began by reviewing the first three games in the list, but the rest were either genres out of my review list or Japan only games. Many of these are Shumps, which the Saturn is kn...

Saturn REVIEWS: The Legend of Oasis

The Legend of Oasis or The Story of Thor 2 as it is known in Europe, is a prequel to a little known but much respected Genesis Action Adventure game, Beyond Oasis, which was especially lauded for its clear and crisp sprite work and ani...

Wii REVIWS: Shiren the Wanderer

For those reading one of my Wii review blogs for the first time, here is the basic concept: The Wii is often mocked for its game library, yet, it actually has a solid list of exclusives that are unavailable anywhere else. Though only N...

Saturn REVIEWS: Deep Fear

With the major critical and commercial success of the first Resident Evil game, it was only a matter of time before other imitators started crowding the market. Among that crowd, Sega's Deep Fear was meant not only as a rival of Reside...

Saturn REVIEWS: Dark Savior

With the success of several videogame companies during the 16bit era, especially within the JRPG genre, there became an explosion of game development in the 5th generation of consoles. That was especially the case in developing for the...

Saturn REVIEWS REPORT: 50 - 41

Unfortunately for my review, the top 50-41 games on Retro Sanctuary are mostly multiplayer focused games. With a regular fighting game, a tank fighting game (that's more like Worms than anything else), and two puzzlers. Other than that...

Saturn REVIEWS: Shinobi Legions

One of the strangest thing about Shinobi Legions is that despite being the latest game in a core Sega franchise at the time, it was published in the West by a different company. Evidenced by that, and the fact that no other Shinobi gam...

About Lord Spencerone of us since 5:57 PM on 01.12.2014

Hello all, I am Lord Spencer, your friendly neighborhood royalty. Yes, the ancient bloodlines are letting absolutely anyone in these days.

Being the lurker that I am, I have been following Destructoid for more than four years. Well, its 3 AM where I live now, and I just plunged in getting HUGE in the way.

Here is hoping for a fun time.

Oh yes, here is a little more info about me that is probably not as interesting as I think it is:

-I owned and played about 1000+ games.
-I owned and read about 2000+ books (I counted comic books I read as a kid so this is not as impressive as it sounds).
-I absolutely love Legos.

Out of all the games I played, I only regret playing a few. I am a big fan of gaming, and thus I really like most of what I play.

Thanks to the excellent work of community member Dango, now I have a cool infographic of my top 20 games. This list is not my final one, but what I thought off at the moment. If you notice, they are presented in chronological order:

Oh, and here is a link to my blogs:
