One thing I know about Destructoid from careful outside observation is that the Community Blogs are regularly swamped by new users introducing themselves and attempting to integrate with the community. I am such a user, and Im here to introduce myself to whoever has the patience to wade through all of this hastily-written crap. This is not a thought-provoking article or review of some shiny new release, this is an introductory post written in a slightly apologetic tone. Dont worry; Im cringing more than you are right now.
Im a gangly Scottish gamer hurtling headfirst through my tender teenage years. As my age indicates, I am one of these cretins knowledgeable about modern gaming, but largely ignorant of the golden ages, when an exciting new medium was finding its place in the world. Nonetheless, I am proud to boast my allegiance to a behemoth industry growing bigger by the day. In my time on the face of this cursed planet I have owned a few consoles, from the first Playstation to the Xbox 360, and my favourite games - Deadly Premonition, The Suffering, Evil Dead: Regeneration, to name a few - are bracketed within this time frame.
If all goes well, and Im not driven from Destructoid with the metaphorical pitchforks and flaming torches of the internet, I plan to write regular blog posts concerning all aspects of the gaming industry, from reviews of games past and present to musings concerning big releases and new consoles. I am an eager writer who enjoys finding new angles on high-profile stories and reviewing games, although I admit freely that I lack the keen knife edge necessary to pen brutally honest critiques which expose the bare bones of any given game.
I arrived here after stumbling upon and reading Jim Sterlings review of Deadly Premonition. At the time, I was also looking for somewhere to alleviate the flow of ideas emanating from my fevered mind. I had tried the likes of GameSpot, but wasnt willing to submit my blogs only to have them cruelly rejected time and time again. Destructoid seemed to provide the solution to my problems. From my ever-so-slightly zoological outside observations of the Destructoid community, I have noted a genuine wealth of intimidating intelligence and fine writing unlike any I have seen on any other site, an absolute delight for me.
I suppose thats it. A self-indulgent summary of myself which I hope provides adequate insight but doesnt wallow in unnecessary information and introspect. If you were kind enough to read this or simply want to rant about my unexpected arrival on the Community Blogs and try to banish me from the Destructoid community, then feel free to scroll down to the bottom of the page and leave a comment if youre so inclined. Best wishes from Lord Death of Murder Mountain! :)
God, thats an awful username.
