Kerrik52's Game of the Year 2022 Countdown

This was one hell of an awesome year of gaming for me. Not only did I manage to nab a PS5 and get myself my own place with an ostentatious TV, the gaming industry decided to wake the fuck up and tempt me into buying enough games to aaa...

Kerrik52's LoK Retrospective #15 - Abysswalker

For those of you who forgot what was going on last time, the last little plot blurb in the manual is happy to catch you up to speed: To us the touch of water is agony; it burns our flesh like acid. My punishment was to be cast into The...

Kerrik52's LoK Retrospective #14 - Eternal Agony

Against all odds, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver managed to get released in 1999 on Playstation and PC, giving us one of the most iconic covers of 5th gen. It is a very simple idea for a cover, but leaning into the excellent design of th...

Kerrik52's LoK Retrospective #6 - Homecoming

With the Mentalist dead, his head claimed and a Hamlet reference dropped ("Alas, poor Nupraptor - I knew him well. Well, not really."), Kain has only to make a swift exit. And as fate would have it, there is a convenient teleporter at ...

Kerrik52's LoK Retrospective #3 - Vengeance Sated

Kain succinctly describes the situation he finds himself in after Mortanius resurrects him as a fresh-faced vampire: Now that we are in proper gameplay, I can talk about the UI. I think it being a pre-rendered chunk of the screen betr...

Kerrik52's LoK Retrospective #2 - Kain's Rebirth

In September of 1996, one would be presented with a diverse set of company logos when booting up Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. Silicon Knights were the developers and Crystal Dynamics were the publisher, but there was a third finger in t...

Traveller In Playtime 2021 Summary

5 years of of writing reviews on this site and I'm still around, huh? That has to count for something. I'm not sure what, but it's been quite the capstone year for me at the very least, so let's get into it. My debilitating wrist injur...

A Decade With Dark Souls

Time waits for no game, and it just so happens to have run 10 laps around the perennial Dark Souls, From Software's amazing (but also somewhat terrible) 2011 release and everyone's new favourite genre descriptor. It's a game that means...

Immersive Sims Are My (Rare) Jam

As has been thoroughly documented across the ages, video game genres are a horrible mess of senseless nomenclature, conflicting ideals, traditions kept well past their best-by date and just straight-up laziness. And to make matters wor...

About Kerrik52one of us since 3:12 AM on 02.28.2016

Greetings, one and all. I'm known as Kerrik52 around these parts and I'm Swedish dude working as an app developer.

I play a lot of games, even the bad ones if they have something interesting to offer. I then write about them on this site for you all to read. I've written about a ton of stuff, but nowadays I mostly write reviews of games with the odd disscussion blog making its way out of my brain every month. My pride and joy is my From Software retrospective, which I highly recommend as a substitute to actually struggling through their first-person games on your own.

When it come to games, I'm mostly an action, platformer, horror, Immersive Sim and JRPG fanatic, but I try to keep my gaming diet varied from time to time. Here are some games/series I love:

Souls Games
God Hand
Immersive Sims
Resident Evil 4
Tales of
Ratchet & Clank
Devil May Cry
Legacy of Kain
Spyro the Dragon
Shin Megami Tensei
Anything by Falcom

I have a very low standard for movies, but I still have some distinct favorites. These include:

The Secret Life of Walter Witty
Pooh's Grand Adventure

Anime is a bite of a side-gig for me, but I'm a proud member of the Symphogear Choir.

Go ahead and share a piece of your world with me and I'll pay back in kind. Don't be deterred if I answer you with a wall of text though. I just can't help it sometimes.
