In my previous blog I wrote that I would be writing over here some retro reviews of games that I played, and while the idea is still happening I wanted to bring those reviews and upcoming gaming-related content with some background beforehand. That said, to write about how my first quarter had been seemed just the right thing to write this time around.
I already posted about this over in my social media accounts, but nothing is compared to when such rich content is shared via writing, so let's begin. I have been following a gaming challenge since 2014 when I aimed to beat a certain amount of games per year and since then 2014 granted me the opportunity to beat 40 games, and as for the following years, the list follows:
As you can see, 2016 proved to be the year with most games beaten, but ever since that accomplishment, to reach that number or to even dream about it has been clouded by real-life duties. In 2017, for example, I began my internships, graduated from college and got a job, so this year I gave this challenge a lot of thought to balance it more with my life and stuff and came up with the idea to just divide the year into its four quarters and beat 15 games per quarter, that would give me time to do other things. If I manage to do that, 2020 would be seeing me beating 60 games, and as I am writing this, I have beaten 21.
Ok, enough background. Here are the fifteen games I managed to beat from January to March of the present year:
*games in bold were my favorites during the quarter they belong to, and that automatically nominates them for Best Game of my Retro GOTY Awards
Also, my favorite games per quarter are not only auto nominated but get to be reviewed, too. However, this rule may change a little if a game I get to play resonates with me in more ways than one making them worthy of being reviewed, whether a good or bad experience it may have been. I am playing Final Fantasy VIII for this second quarter and believe me, that game is going to be reviewed.
Having said that, by writing this today I already have three retro reviews to write next, starting with Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker (The thought of writing a review of such amazing game makes me happy).
During April and due to the social distancing and stuff, beating games has been easier to do in terms of time, thus I may have to either beat those 15 games and find something else to do or find something else to do while I beat the games. I have so much free time in my hands now that I don't know what to do exactly sometimes, and this lockdown in my country seems to be lasting for thirty days or more so, guess time will tell.
