First game of February down: Super Monkey Ball Jr., which is somehow both an impressive piece of GBA tech that's better than it has any right to be, but still extremely frustrating and generally not all that fun to play with digital movement.

I just tried to buy a game on my Vita. That was a flat out excruciating experience. Thanks Sony.
Just ran through Shinobi (arcade), Shadow Dancer (arcade), and Revenge of Shinobi. OOF. These games are not it. Even with rewind and save states these are huge turds. Maybe it gets better?! On to the rest of them I suppose.
Oh yes the Analogue Pocket finally has a Wonderswan core and it "just works", something every emulator I tried could never get right (rotation and button configs were famously fucked in all of them). I know it's a niche system but whatever, diving in now!
JoyMasher does it again. That's all four of their games making it onto my favorites list. If you haven't checked it out or didn't know, Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider is a good time!
Devil May Cry 5 is done and it was... fine! Just fine. Dandy. If you love ruins, subways, sewers, and demonic tubes, you'll love this one! Locales almost never visited in video games! Also I got some hot takes in the comments.
I just wrapped up Blood: Fresh Supply which was great (the Post Mortem ep was my favorite). I was eyeing Blood II but after some research not even your boi Dangus is interested in suffering through that mess. I have standards. Sort of. Occasionally.
First game of the year finished and it's Army Men: World War - Land, Sea, air. So that's how I've decided to set the tone. You're welcome.
Here's to a new year and hopefully finding out how the three seashells work.
Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days is the Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days of third-person cover shooters.
Just finished Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, which is the Deadly Premonition of third person cover shooters. That's the best I got. On to the sequel.
I finished Dad of Boi (2018, PC) last night. What an experience! I think I enjoyed the story, atmosphere, and characters more than the minute to minute gameplay, but I still think it's a good'n. Just the last Valkyrie left. Oh and BOY does Niflheim suck.
I'm currently at 83 games played in 2022 with many nearly done. My goal is 90 and I think I can get there thanks to the Army Men series. Finished Little Nightmares II today (not bad). Almost done with Frogun (meh), and GoW'18 was on sale so here we go.
Army Men: Air Tactics marks, to my knowledge, the final game built in the original engine. That's Army Men 1, 2, Toys in Space, World War, and now Air Tactics finished. Oh and yes, Air Tactics was definitely the best of the bunch, if a bit buggy. Onward!
Little Nightmares II is good, but I've never been a huge fan of this sort of trial and error, one hit and your dead, gameplay. Either way I'm trying to get the shorter games off the backlog and this will do. Oh and I started Armored Core on PS1. Neat game
Army Men: Toys in Space goes on my short list of games "finished on YouTube". I just couldn't do it. Got about a third or so through and decided to watch a longplay. I had to use cheats to finish 1, but why even bother?
The Evil Within 2 is done. While it was a much better game, it was also a much less interesting one. Glad it wrapped up well, but if they ever make a third one can we PLEASE just play as the badass, legally distinct, not Ada Wong. No more boring protags.
Well I'm impressed. The Evil Within's DLC somehow managed to reel it all in and elevate the overall game. It had its issues, but I had a much better time with it than the base game. I likely won't be doing the executioner DLC though.
Just finished The Evil Within. I'll dive into the DLC after dinner tonight. What a mess of a game. I don't even really know how to describe it beyond "spooky video game" the game. It made me yearn for anything else... maybe Psychonauts? At least it tried?
I play the trash so you don't have to. This weekend I finished the average but not terrible Army Men: Sarge's Heroes. After that I finally began the abysmal, Army Men: Toy's in Space. And to keep the plastic melting, started and finished Air Attack. Yikes
I'm a chapter further than I got last time I tried to play it (on 5 now), but I'm more into The Evil Within this attempt. I think I was in the mood for "RE4" but didn't actually want to replay it. This one is thematically awful, but as a GAME it's legit.
It was some wonderfully cosmic coincidence that the 69th game I finished this year was Duke Nukem: Land of the Babes.
I just went to buy all the stuff I need to run network through my home (plates, keystone jacks, etc) and Monoprice had it all for ~70 dollars. Great! But the cheapest shipping option was... record scratch... 250 dollars?! Am I missing something? Holy shit
