Good morning Destructoid! It's that wonderful time of the week! It's Friday!
It's been a looooong week and I'm happy as all hell my days off are here. Work has been exhuasting and I plan on doing a whole lot of nothing this weekend but playing games, getting some workouts in and relaxing. No plans beyond that and I'm definitely ok with it.
Dying Light 2 arrived two days late which is never fun but I didn't let it ruin my days. I knew it would arrive eventually and that I would have fun with it when it did. Other then the game crashing here and there for no reason, I'm having a great time with it. Same beautiful opening as the original with my character feeling pretty helpless against the swarming undead and now that I've put in some hours, I'm getting stronger and able to survive a bit easier. The gameplay loop is just so entertaining. The story isn't fantastic so far and I don't mind. As most of you are aware, I don't need a perfect story every time as long as it's entertaining enough.
A few days ago, I got news while at work that one of the games that are tied for my favorite is getting a remaster. I had to stop myself from tearing up lol Chrono Cross is FINALLY getting a remaster and will be playable on modern platforms. They sure took their sweet ass time but come April, I'll be happily revisiting this world again with a big ass smile on my face. While I wish the game got more love then it did, I'm just happy it's getting any attention at all at this point.
Gf and I saw Scream 5 last weekend and we both really enjoyed it. I'm happy it got mostly really good reviews but some of them made it seem like it revitalized the horror slasher genre and it definitely didn't. It was a lot of fun and I'm glad its getting positive attention, but it didn't do anything new that other similar horror movies haven't already done. Either way, we're happy we liked it as much as we did.
