Dear SEGA, why is Sonic Frontiers not just a bunch of those "cyberspace" levels glued together? Those actually look fun! Great Direct overall, I have mad nostalgia for Battle Network, and also now I can't get around playing Persona 5 anymore.

I've had a throat infection for a week now...bad. It's been hurting for a while but got debilitating Thursday. I can't eat, barely drink, speaking hurts, and I've had trouble sleeping from the pain and the swelling. I'm falling apart over here...

I'm becoming a little lost on Tunic. It's been great so far, and pretty good at guiding you through. But I just got a very significant upgrade and fighting a very significant boss, but I have no idea if I'm supposed to. Spoilers in comments.

I'm quite surprised by where Triangle Strategy's plot has ended up taking me. I just got to the big ending choice, but I never expected that I would willingly choose to side with... [Spoilers in the comments]

Pokemon Scarlet/Violet seems to have some sort of Past vs. Future theme going on which is neat. Miraidon looks like a robot dragon and "mirai" is Japanese for future. Also...why yes, I WILL buy the one with the sexy cave woman with midriff for days in it.

I'm trying the Mario Strikers trial, and the game tells me "Press Y to tackle". What I didn't expect was that by "tackle" they mean "Have Mario kick Yoshi square in the face."

Koi friend! It's been some time since I did a more complex origami model. This was quite tricky, and I had to take some shortcuts here and there, but it turned out pretty good. Designed by Meng Weining.

I've been quite into puzzle games lately, it's helping me take my mind off things. Opus Magnum is especially cool. No set solution; it just lets you build whatever machine you want, as long as it delivers the correct result. It makes for satisfying gifs!

Never got into the original Rogue Legacy. I felt that the movement was extremely basic, didn't really give you the tools to deal with the challenges, and every class played exactly the same. So it's fantastic how RL2 specifically fixes those exact issues!

I've been absolutely hooked on 13 Sentinels. It's the most jigsaw puzzle of a story ever, but it's really cool trying to piece it all together. But I sound like a raving madman trying to explain the story and my working theories to myself. Current status:

I've been watching Mystery Tournament lately; a tournament where they blind race a random game they've never seen before. It's been a great way to get introduced to some neat obscure indie games. This may be my favorite they showed off. It looks great!

Happy to see that Best Mario Girls are enjoying their stay in the Netherlands. Now let's hope that the new Mario Kart Tour Amsterdam track will also come to Mario Kart 8. Because it's still not enough to get me to download Tour.

Since I'm quarantining, it's given me time to finally finish The Great Ace Attorney, which was on the backburner for a while. Second game is especially great, and the final two cases were amazing. Especially the very final bit. Spoilers in the comments.

Tested positive today, even though today I was going to be teaching. So we're just moving it online, but still. Only a minor headache though, otherwise I feel fine.

Ah, yet another reason to stick to Destructoid Quickposting and never ever making a Twitter account.

Birthday haul! I'm ready to read text, read more text, and command units maybe sometimes.

New screen protector is on! Not strictly perfect, but on a completely white screen (screenshotted the intro to Chicory) you have to actively search for any dust particles, and it's impossible to tell what's out and inside. As good as it's getting!

I just spent a good hour trying to reapply my Switch tempered glass screen protector, since when I first applied it a few months ago a stray fiber got lodged underneath exáctly in the middle. The end result? I'm gonna need to buy a new screen protector..

Today was our first exam for the course I've been teaching. I put a Portal reference in the case (gaming company "Aperture Software" analyzing personal data through their algorithm codenamed "Gladys"); it's just fun that way. At least one student got it!

I didn't even know this had a release date until I just got notified it's out. Give this game a try: levels are pushable blocks that can go inside themselves for infinite recursion. IMO this looks like the next great little puzzle game, after Baba is You.

It's been a while since I've done some origami, so I figured I'd start with something a little easier. But now...the goose is loose. (Designed by Jo Nakashima)

Casper the Friendly Ghost meets Paper Mario. Seems pretty neat! I quite liked Bug Fables, so something similar to scratch that itch seems nice. Áfter playing Thousand Year Door for the millionth time, of course.

Went to see The Batman today: it was good! Lot to like about, but also some weird things. It felt a lot like Batman 1989 in tone, which is exactly what I wanted from it.

Since I finished my final lecture the other day and everything went great, I bought myself a little present. What's in the b(l)ox?

Anybody with experience playing Kirby games co-op; do you know if the game changes at all for more people? More enemies, boss health, etc. I really enjoyed the new Demo and I plan to play this game co-op, but blasting through the game wouldn't be as fun.

About ShadeOfLightone of us since 7:43 AM on 07.16.2010

The Dutch one, Grand Marshal of the Nintendo Defense Force, heckler of GajKnight, and zen personified; I am ShadeOfLight, one of your Community Managers .

I'm a Dutch law PhD who loves to play the vidya. I'm a Nintendo-fanboy at heart, and I could play Zelda games continuously from now until the end of time. I also used to be on the Cblog Recaps team for Thursdays, and I did that for 4 whole years.

Next to Zelda I'm also obsessed with the Monolith Soft RPGs Xenoblade Chronicles and the Baten Kaitos series. I will not pass up the opportunity to mention them, ever, and I consider myself to be Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean's biggest fan. I'm fairly certain Monolith Soft exists specifically to make me happy.

Being the good Nintendo fanboy that I am, the Switch is the new love of my life. I'm on a steady course of turning it into a Nintendo + Indies machine, as Iwata intended.

Even a list of my favorite games across all platforms will be dominated by Nintendo and indie, with a few wild cards here and there.

Besides gaming itself, I like reading up on gaming-related news on my favorite website in the whole wide world: Destructoid. I'm pretty much here all the time. I love all the people here, and I'm glad that I get to be a part of this whole thing. Wouldn't know what to do without you!

And it turns out you guys love me too!
I've had some blogs promoted:
- Because VIDEOGAMES!
- Digital Property: Entering the Third Age
- Better with Age: Batman: Arkham Asylum
- Waifu Wars: Midriff or Bust
- And posted as The Wombat: 2014: I want to make love to you. Seriously.
