RPGs - Artificially Padded Slow Adventure Games?

Working Designs and Game Arts are usually very good RPG companies (well, WAS in WD's case), but there are two games in particular that illustrate to me that either they didn't know what they were doing or didn't care: Lunar Dragon Song and...

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things - Episode 4

You know what's up. Let's go. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World - The Game - Stage 1 While Scott Pilgrim is an awesome game and competent all around brawler, well...let me just tell you my story. So I noticed this game the same day Shank ca...

Semi-Annoyed Video Game Nerd

And here's the list... *** Gamecube *** Baten Kaitos - Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean Baten Kaitos Origins Fire Emblem - Path of Radiance Legend of Zelda - The Wind Waker Resident Evil 4 Skies of Arcadia Legends Star Fox Adventures *...

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things - Episode 3

You know the drill. This is not spoiler free. Some content within are MAJOR spoilers that might occur toward the end of a particular game or open it up entirely. If you see a game you've played, but not very much, or a game you'd be inte...

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things - Episode 2

Back by popular demand (and also I'm kinda bored and burnt out), here's episode 2! Before I continue, I realized in my last one that pretty much every one of my choices went something like "Well, this happened, then something else, but I c...

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things - Episode 1

It dawned on me that all throughout doing RPG and Adventure Game of the Year I didn't really get to highlight one of the major things that makes me want to play games again regardless of how many times I've beaten them or haven't: certain ...

FPS of the Year - 1998

This one's a pretty easy year, actually. Sure, there were some good games this year, but also a bunch of really shitty ones. I think we'll all agree on #1, but the other great ones this year definitely deserve your interest. Let's go! B...

FPS of the Year - 1997

This is yet another big year that houses some of my all-time favorite FPSs. And that is exactly why though it was obvious what my #1 is for this year, it was heartbreaking to not be able to do the same for so many other great titles. ANYW...

FPS of the Year - 1996

...Fucking hell. I was worried this might happen. Okay, as a general disclaimer, there are some serious BIG games this year...many of which would normally be #1, no problem. I'm confident in my #1, however, especially as it's my favorite...

FPS of the Year - 1995

This is a big year, no lie. I won't say it's the biggest year, but holy damn. Even still, a lot of titles doesn't mean a lot of good games, so...well, let's just get into it. Alien Breed 3D And we start out this year strong with somet...

FPS of the Year - 1994

This is a BIG year, but I think getting movies for all the games and briefly going over them, while it creates more work for me, is a better way of going about this. Sure, it means the article is HUGE, but unless I'm told it's also BORING,...

FPS of the Year - 1993

While it is going to be fairly obvious who takes home the gold this year, this was the first year to actually have a lot of FPS titles, many of which are...well, at least passable. Okay, no, there wasn't anything mindblowing this year, but...

FPS of the Year - 1992

So yeah, I decided to talk about 1992 after all. 1992 is a year you should familiarize yourself with when it comes to gaming. Sure, there were a lot of cool things going on in the console world, but the PC gaming market was especially int...

FPS of the Year - Before All The Good Shit

This one's going to be a little different and here's why. So once again, I thought I would start in 1990. I mean, that seems to be a pretty good year to start with and it worked with everything else, so why not? I'LL TELL YOU WHY NOT. W...

Goin' Retro - Paladin's Quest

There were a lot of RPGs I played for the SNES (and in general) and while some were weird from time to time, very few achieved the strangeness of Paladin's Quest. So what makes it so strange? Well to clarify, it's not strange in the same ...

Blog (And Life) Update - 2/8/2011

It's come to my attention that I've become a hermit away from already pretty much being a hermit. See, in 2010, I was all about posting stuff online, doing podcasts, playing videogames, and whatever else while staying away from normal soci...

2010 Sucked - Because Hey, Everyone Else Is Doing It

For me, 2010 sucked, but most likely for a reason a lot of us probably didn't deal with. On January 29th, 2010, I was fired from my advanced technical support position for, and I quote, "transferring billing calls to the billing department...

Remember When Megaman Used To Be Cool?

The first Megaman game I ever played was the second one and goddamn was it brutal. I mean, I'd played a few Capcom platformers up to that point, mostly Disney stuff, but very little could've prepared me for the toughness of the oldschool...

The Frankenstein Project - Fable Series

I thought I'd start a new concept I thought would be interesting. You'll catch on as I go. This is semi-inspired by the thread "Series Where Different Games Had Attributes You Wish Were Together In One Game." It seems like as a series go...

Brawler of the Year - 1999

This is actually a surprisingly good year and what a year to end on. No, there weren't that many titles, but what was released was pretty damn good. This was not an easy year to pick a #1 as a result. Dynamite Cop / Dynamite Deka 2 (Arca...

Brawler of the Year - 1998

This was an incredibly slow year for brawlers. Unless my info's wrong (and you can blame Wiki for that if it is), there were literally only 3 brawlers this year. Worse still, I had no prior knowledge of these titles going into this and, w...

Brawler of the Year - 1997

This was a slow year for brawlers (unless Wiki's being a jerk). However, there were some interesting titles this year all the same. Battle Circuit (Arcade) You want crazy? You want over the top? You want bizarre? Then this is your g...

Brawler of the Year - 1996

There weren't that many brawlers this year, but trust me...if you recognize at least half the games in the runner ups list, you'll know immediately this was a hard year to call a #1. Die Hard Arcade / Dynamite Deka (Arcade) I've seen th...

About gunsageone of us since 2:58 PM on 04.11.2008

I've been gaming since 1987. I used to be a big Nintendo fanboy, then Square jumped the shark, so I followed. Eventually I realized neither Square nor Nintendo were the only companies out there worth following and my collection more or less speaks for itself now. I love to meet up with people on XBL, though I haven't done much online with the Wii. I've also been writing game review articles since 2004 on the old Project Wonderboy, then Morphine Nation, and now back to the new Project Wonderboy and various other sites.

I also help out in writing for a local videogame store website (VGMX). Not much else to say, really, when it comes to gaming. I wouldn't consider myself an expert, but I would say I'm experienced.

My Backloggery...
