Phils Game/Pop Music Similarities #280 - Enthusiastic Recruitment

Featuring Shining Force 1 and mostly folk.

Greetings fellow game music lovers,

since last week was so nice, another Shining Force entry, this time for the first part from 1992. What is a good party leader without powerful associates that efficiently clear out the worst the enemy might throw at him? Nothing, and this is why the join of a new character is always accompanied by an enthusiastic jingle:

I first assumed this could be military related like much of the rest of the soundtrack. But the rather cheerful tone can also be prominently found in another genre: Country.

Asheville Bluegrass - "Remember Me" (traditional)

Then again, this one does have a civil war background:

G.P. Reed - "The Rose of Alabama" (1864):

Maybe this one as an oddball:

Otto Motzan & Abe Olman - " Fee Fi Fo Fum" (1920):

Next week? We'll see!

Phil out.
