Phils Game/Pop Music Similarities #264 - Reefest Madness
Featuring Sonic & Knuckles and Salsa.
Greetings fellow game music lovers,
yeah, another Sonic, this time Sonic & Knuckles (1994). I think we only had this once? Nevermind, still has plenty of good songs. Originally developed as Sonic 3 - Part II it includes the pic ending to the Angel Island saga. The hottest zone in the game, Lava Reef, includes a catchy dancepop song that has a very prominent sample in its second half:
I occasionally hear samples in Salsa music reminiscent of this one.
