Featuring Treasure Hunter G and mostly caribbean music.
Greetings fellow game music lovers,
shortly before summer's end, some findings for a game released shortly before the end of the SNES era: Treasure Hunter G (1996), a Squaresoft japan exclusive turn based strategy game comparable to Shining Force on the Mega Drive/Genesis. Scored by Hitoshi Sakimoto of Final Fantasy Tactics and XII fame and you hear it. The title screen music is basically an amalgamation of fanfares Indiana Jones style and for today, we'll pick one of them:
Most of the samples followig are from caribbean music. The first one however is rather New Wave but those drew a lot from that genre in the 80s so I'll let it pass:
The Monochrome Set - "In Love, Cancer?" (1980)
There are also Calypso songs with comparable fanfares:
Feeling It - "Sound Revolution" (1984): (Note: Original might be from Baron)
Mighty Sparrow - Ah Doh Come So (1978):
Lord Nelson & Sa Carlos "Baldhead Dub" - (1987):
and Salsa:
Pete el Conde & Johnny Pacheco - "Los Compadres" (1974):
I think I have some more Treasure Hunter G lying around somewhere...
Phil out.
