I've played both Injustice games and knew right away that everyone would like MK11 on release despite my feelings. NetherRealm games has a tendency to really reward keepaway mechanics, plus the animations have always been a little off. Still, MK11 has the fighting game space to itself for a little while. Between existing fighting games refreshing with new DLC and SamSho still unreleased, MK11 is what we've got to hold down the fort until EVO.
Even though I talked about the iffy nature of keepway balance, one of the coolest things I learned about MK11's meta is the nature of the krushing blows. At first I thought they were just fancy counter hits, but I learned later that they have the potential to change the way you play your character and reward you for it with extra damage and combo opportunities. For example, Erron Black has a krushing blow on his dropkick if he lands it twice in a row (for whatever reason). Several krushing blows are from attacks being done at full screen. Lui Kang gets a krushing blow off bicycle kick after hitting with it three times in a match. There are even more weird ones like Jade getting a krushing blow is the second hit of a three hit string hits first.
So how are you liking MK11? Who have you been enjoying the most? I heard Jax gets a damage buff on his arms the more you punch with them. And how are you doing in matchups? MK11 already came under fire for its massive grind in the towers of time and the Krypt, but eventually that stuff may as well fall away as you get back into the game to engage in mortal kombat, right?
