Hello everyone and welcome to day 15. Hot damn does time sure fly, we’re already half way through the month. Hope your weekend has been an enjoyable one. Today’s song is
Steam World Dig: Vectron
Steam World Dig was and is still a fantastic game. What I like about Steam World Dig is its simplicity that ultimately hides a darker secret. You start by getting a deed to your uncle’s mine (as part of his will) and from there you go digging for riches. Again the premise is really simple, but as time goes on and you dig deeper you start finding really strange things. The deeper you go the more layers you uncover and each layer has a bit of a story to tell. You soon begin to realize that the world isn’t what it seems and something more mysterious is happening deep in the earth. This is furthered by a huge hole in the ground that would ordinarily mean certain death, unless you get the necessary upgrade.
As it turns out there is basically another world down there, and it’s called Vectron. Vectron is basically a world of metal and wires filled with lasers, kamikaze bots, and metal trilobites. The way its set up coupled with the music gives this area a creepy vibe, on top of it feeling rather lonely. Previous areas still felt like a living world despite being underground. There was life all over the place, but in Vectron you know there is no life with a will of its own. Everything there serves Voltbot as part of Vectron.
And I must saying having finished the sequel they’ve somehow made Vectron even creepier. I didn’t think that was possible but it’s certainly welcome. I had quite a bit of fun running through there. The new enemies were also somewhat disturbing, provided you really think about what they are and what they do.
