(Edit: Forgot the links!)
Of course, the second I try to do a consistent blog, and try to play more multiplayer games, my job gets busy.
Not that I'm complaining about having a job (I would never), it's just the timing is typical me. I try to devote to something consistently and can't seem to keep up. It happened with a comic strip I tried to do (though, I rean out of ideas for it anyway), and with my songwriting. I released an acoustic demo of some songs years ago, but the recording was shit and I can't sing well, so a year later I took it down.
I just recently started songwriting again, and while I'm proud that I'm being creative and productive, it'll be a while before I get the guts to record and release them ,or at least perform and work on them with friends. I also took up After Effects again to make an end graphic for someone, which will help me get re-acclimated with video post-production. I should be working on that instead of this, but this is important too!
I did get a chance to play some Arms. While the motion controls are functional, I wasn't sold on them. It threw my muscle memory off, so if I had to dodge or something, for some reason my hands forgot where the buttons were. This is why I have to use the Joycon Grip when I take them off the Switch: Even with button-only controls, the fact that my hands aren't holding a controller the standard way makes them forget where buttons are. It's hard to describe, but hopefully you get it.
Once I learned that there are "standard" controls, I was fine. I like how the game is designed to discourage button-mashing, and you have to pay attention to what your opponent is doing and execute the appropriate counter, while taking advantage of openings and manipulating your punches' curves to hit your target. It's more about timing than aggression. I only liked the 1-on-1 mode, though. The 2-v-2 is too busy since it's hard to see what your opponents are doing, and being tethered to your ally restricts your movement. Volleyball was okay, but it was often difficult to maneuver the ball where you wanted it to go, and the camera being constantly locked to it made it impossible to hit it in certain directions.
Don't forget, the Global Test Punch happens again this weekend. And don't forget to leave your usernames, games and times!
Oh, and feel free to give feedback to the format of this thing, and any other suggestions!
Anyway, here's the usual shtick:
