A small tribute to Nintendo Direct and Switch - Nintendrone Direct

Tldr: Scroll to the bottom for the video.

Hello again! I hope everyone is everyone is enjoying Switchmas day today, and for those who aren't, then happy Friday! Today's blog post probably won't be as longwinded as my last one, I just wanted to say a few things about Nintendo Directs and Switch.

With the Switch officially out, and many still waiting for orders to open back up again, myself included, I really felt inclined to try and add something creative to an otherwise exciting point in time. As a long time fan of the ever rare Nintendo Direct, I figured I would try and do a small take on it.

I can't recall when exactly I first started watching Nintendo Directs, it was one of the earlier ones back in 2012 or 2013, I believe, but I remember being hooked instantly. I would always wake up early before heading out to work or college to catch them. Mr. Iwata was so personable and there really wasn't anything else like it, at least that I knew of. I was like being part of a cool little club for Wii U and 3DS owners.

Sadly, Mr. Iwata passed, and the Direct went from being every couple of months to once in a great while. It's still nice to see them when we do get them now, but it just really hasn't been the same.

I've been wanting to make a tribute of sorts to the Nintendo Direct for quite some time, but it wasn't until the Switch were I felt there was an appropriate enough subject matter.

The spin I wanted to put on it was theming it to make it more in line with the whole "console wars" silliness. As I've said before, I've been a Nintendo fan for as long as I can remember, but I've made plenty of friends over the years who had different gaming preferences from myself, and we've always had fun debating and poking fun at one another over those preferences. Afterall, at the end of the day we were just friends having a good time.

When the topics of fanboyism and console wars come up online, however, the reaction is pretty much universally much more negative. Sadly, the nature of online debates makes it much easier for people to take any discussion and be a complete asshole about it, with little to no repercussions. Thus any good natured fun that could be had with modern console wars is more often than not ruined by some anonymous jerk online.

I guess you could say, I want to try and make that a fun topic again. It doesn't have to be so serious, afterall, it's just hunks of plastic.

Anyways, enough of my blathering, onto the tribute itself! The editing is a little rough, since I taught myself how to use green screen/chroma key editing and general video editing in just the past few days, but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless!
