Hall of Game - Earthbound

A little under two years ago, I produced my first real video. That video was a quick and fun review of Mega Man 2. I received a lot of positive feedback, as well as some great constructive criticism. Well, that series has continued in my absence, and now that I'm back, I'm sharing my video content with you. The Hall of Game is usually a roughly 5-minute video where I do my best to inject some humor while talking a little bit about the game.

For the most part, I like to choose games for the series that I've never played before, like Bucky O'Hare, Donkey Kong Country 2, and now, the all-time classic RPG, Earthbound. This video is just shy of 4-and-a-half minutes, so it certainly isn't a major time investment, and just as before, I welcome all forms of feedback, positive or negative (just don't be a jerk about it).

If four minutes is just too much for you, I'll just say that I absolutely loved Earthbound. I didn't care much for RPGs as a kid, and to be honest, I'm still not a big fan of them today, but I missed out on a lot of great games as a kid, and since we did this game as a retrospective episode of our podcast, I figured it would be a great opportunity to also create a video for it, and you can hear more in depth thoughts on the game if you want to listen to it. We get into things like the Giygas "abortion theory" and I noticed some strong allusions to Jesus Christ and Christianity as a whole, but for the most part were just lavishing praise on the game.

One thing that I talk about in both the video and the podcast is how the game gave me a sense of nostalgia even though this was my first time playing it. I seemed to identify with Ness very well. When I was younger, I was that kid who loved baseball and would walk around town with my friends trying to see what kind of trouble we could get into. 

Perhaps the most beautiful thing about having now played Earthbound is that I understand so many more references!
