Hello friends. It's the new year 20X6, and with it, I bring new music! I've only written 6 songs so far this year, but I feel that I'm off to a good start considering I had difficulty writing any music towards the end of the year 2015. This blog was written to share the music, but also to let SirDavies know I'll be ready for his album art soon (hopefully) :p
2AD16 - I is part of a series of albums in the 2ADXX variety. The AD is my Alphadeus emblem that I use in all my YouTube videos. There is no rhyme or reason to the album, they are just jams that I write that hopefully sound good. I'll sometimes go back to older songs I've written, and remake them. This album so far has 2 remakes. Although they are jams, there are "goals" when I write them. The main goal is to achieve some sort of individual theme with each song, such as a "song for a side-scrolling beat-em-up", sad scene, etc.
With all that said, on to the music! I don't know how to embed videos, so I'll just link to them.
The Man That Time Forgot (2016) - A dramatic theme, written for a character in my AD Infinitum universe (Okinui). The man exists where time does not (Asphodel Meadows).
Relaxing ~for Piano~ (2016) - Relaxing is a classic piece of mine going back to around 2003. Originally written for more instruments, I thought a piano-only version would sound nice. While the notes were punched in manually, this is a song I feel fairly comfortable playing live, since that's how I originally wrote it.
Silkworm (2016) - Written as a "side-scrolling shoot-em-up" song, Silkworm could be one of the first levels of a video game. I named the song Silkworm because of the Psssssh sound you hear often in the song :p
Monster (2016) - I wanted to write something a little dark and sad. As if the song was written for a monster feeling alone and feared.
No Ticket ~ChillyBilly~ (2016) - A remake of ChillyBilly's wonderful song "Stuck Outside Without a Ticket" from the Songs for Gamers album. This time around, I wanted to make it more focused on the piano, so I rewrote the first part for piano. I also wanted to use bells in the second part.
Gradient Divide (2016) - The title was suggested by Occams when I was looking to create a fake game soundtrack. It would've been a bullet-hell type shooter. The song is probably similar to Silkworm, in that they are both written for shooters. This song seems a bit loud compared to the other songs so far, so I might rework the volume for the album release.
EDIT: Looking Back (2016) - I wrote this song after writing up the blog, and decided I wanted to share it now, even though some people have already seen the blog post. When I post the completed album, I plan on linking all of the songs again, so it won't be missed either way. Looking Back is one of my classic pieces from when I was writing music for a game that never released.
That's what I have so far. I'm shooting for the album to have at least 12 songs. 13 would be nice, although if I can do 15, that would be awesome. The album will be released for free (for an unknown period of time), so if you like the music, I recommend grabbing it for free as soon as possible. I probably won't put a price on it for a few weeks.
Other than this album, I have some other plans music-wise for 2016. I want to work on AD Infinitum series, whether it means starting over, or starting with volume II. I did not like how Volume I turned out. I feel the songs should've stayed true to their "Walking in Circles" counterparts. I might release a Nonsensicals VI. I might even work on a Songs for Gamers add-on album, featuring songs for new people, or a completely re-arranged album of existing songs.
I also want to write a soundtrack for an imaginary game, unless someone has work for me :p I figure an imaginary game soundtrack would look on my resume ;)
I accidentally put a line at the end of this blog, and can't get rid of it. I hope it doesn't ruin the blog post :P Thanks for reading/listening!
