That's right. I'm fucking glad.
That shit costs $600.00 big ones. You know what that means?
WE WON'T HAVE THE INDUSTRY FOCUSED ON IT SO SOON.
Unlike the latest gimmick (motion controls), it's freaking expensive to get VR so the install base will be small.
Which means devs that usually do solid games won't give up what they're doing to try and do a game with the new gimmick (like happened with so many devs of the Wii/Kinect era). They won't try to shoehorn that stuff in games. If they do, it will be optional.
They can't risk selling just for a niche.
So even if the Wii U or the Xboner supports it, we woun't be forced to use it (I'm looking at you Skyward Sword). They will have to give us the option of not using it, as it always should be.
They won't focus good devs and IPs on chasing the bandwagon because that won't give them any money. We can rest easily knowing that whatever crap the industry is focusing on lately, it will not involve VR and 3D oriented gimmicks. At least for a while.
I'm fucking glad.
