There have been many amazing movies released in 2015, with films like Jurassic World, Furious 7 and Ant-Man leading the charge, but there has been one movie that fans have been anticipating for all year and for the last 10 years since its previous installment was released back in 2005. That film is Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Trailers have been released over the course of 2015, and people have stated their excitement, both celebrities and the general public. But even though there are many fans extremely excited, I for one am a fan, but not trying to get too hyped up about this movie, because there is a good chance this movie could be an absolute disaster (like Fant4stic - upcoming post due to be released soon, and Batman & Robin, released in 1997), so a piece of advice would be to not get too excited, as you don't know whether the film will be successful or just a pile of trash. So, will it live up to the hype?
Who knows, but the trailers have so far shown that they are probably not going to pull a prequel trilogy or Fant4stic, as they have taken out the majority of the CGI, which is good but bad at the same time. Why? Well, it makes it look like the prequel trilogy is the most technologically-advanced era, and it slowly starts to drop as the years go on. But it is good as many people have complained about the CGI being overused, and the fans have been demanding that they drop the level of CGI, as it would make the film look good but at the same time it would make it look weird, like it did in the prequels. But, unlike other people in this world who only care about the Skywalkers, I will try and take a lot less notice of the Skywalkers/Solos, and focus rather on the new generation, and their performances, because again, people are saying that because Hamill, Ford and Fisher are there, it is going to be an amazing film. That doesn't mean anything at all. I want this film to be like the original trilogy where Obi-Wan appears every now and then during the film, and not focus on him, whilst still remaining an important character. Will this film be the same? Very likely, as J.J. Abrams is very much looking at the original trilogy more so than the prequels on what to base the film off.
Again, the hype is worrying for people like myself, as the real question about all this is that you have been all hyped up over the last number of months/years for this film, and this has turned out to be a disaster. What are you going to do now? Honestly, I can't see that as a question that the people will care about, as it is just another film in the saga, but for me, SW7 needs to be a great film in order for the success of the Anthology series and the rest of the sequel trilogy to have an impact on the future of Star Wars, but really, either way, there will be some sort of an impact. I have been a Star Wars fan since I was a little kid, and I hope that this film doesn't start a massive decline for the Star Wars universe, as I want these films to continue mine, yours and everyone elses interests for many years to come. Please don't be a disaster of a movie...I'm looking at you, Batman & Robin...the fans love it, they want a good movie because they want the franchise to grow in a good way and not come crashing down like the original Star Trek films did (I honestly didn't enjoy the last two films of those).
But, if it looks good in the trailer, chances are it is going to be a good movie, and one for people to remember for many years (other examples - Spider-Man 2, In The Loop...uh, cut that out, Iron Man, Avatar and others).
PS: Not my best post, but will follow it up with a rant about Fant4stic in the next day or so. Cheers
