Do you think you're perfect? So perfect you can call yourself Perfect, with a capital P? Are you Perfection Incarnate?
Ooookay, that's a pretty pretentious way to start off, so let's back up. In all seriousness, while I'm sure some people may genuinely believe themselves to be perfect, or Perfect as it were, I'd like to think they tend to be in the minority. On the other hand, I don't think it would be that strange to hear people seeking perfection.
Wouldn't you want to be perfect?
I mean... Perfection is being the best, right? Would you want to be any less than 100%? You wouldn't, right? You wouldn't want to get a B, C, or a D on a test either, would you?
Would you actually choose to stay in your ugly, Semi-Perfect teenager form when you knew sexy, Perfect adulthood awaited you?
Personally...? I don't know about that. After all, we're not talking about a test score or something being graded in a vacuum, we're talking about a person, an ever evolving being that doesn't just stop once you decide what it is.
If you ask me, once you think you're perfect, once you've decided that you're the best that you can be, then in that moment, you've probably stopped being the best you can be. I'm not saying to just throw your whole life away in some constant state of improvement, never stopping to smell the roses, but at the same time, we can't let ourselves get too full of ourselves either, right? That's what they teach in Shonen Villain 101, so it's not the kind of stuff we want to be picking up.
Like, to sort of bring up an example that I'm sure annoys the hell out of everyone, much as I might hold certain opinions as strong as all else, I'd like to think I won't have some epic, soul shattering moment if I'm suddenly proven "wrong" about them. I'm totally open to being shown how "wrong" I am about certain things, it just, well... It hasn't happened yet.
But hey, maybe my being stubborn about some things like that is just another imperfection right there we can add onto the list! Admittedly, I'm not sure if there's much room for more, given that the first thousand spots are taken up by synonyms for wordy, but we'll squeeze it in somehow.
Just gotta... squeeze it... real good...
Maybe you can become perfect today, but that's it. That was today's perfect. If you don't improve tomorrow, you're not perfect anymore, are you? So why give yourself that "grade" at all? Maybe you weren't perfect today and you thought you were, but tomorrow you realize your error. That's cool too. Being open to that kind of thing is a heck of a lot more "perfect" than just deciding you're absolute. That's not to say be full of doubts or anything, but be open.
Tomorrow is a new day. If you think you're the best now, if you're absolutely right now, maybe something will come along later that will change your mind. Or a Super Saiyan will blow you up and you won't get the chance to improve. Same thing, really.
Most of all though, if you aren't even close to being perfect right now, not in your head or anyone else's, that's fine. You can still keep improving. Whether you're trying to learn a new skill or make it as a writer or who knows what else, you can keep trying. Just because you aren't what you want to be right this second doesn't mean you won't be if you keep trying. The important thing is to not give up, and likewise, to not get in over your head. Just because you put a lot of time into something... unfortunately doesn't mean it will always be good.
But that doesn't mean you can't take something from that!
To put it another way, don't be this guy:
Don't even be this guy:
Be this guy:
Look at how sweet and innocent he is!
Keep seeking out the best possible you. Be open to trying new things, but don't let how close or not it might be get to your head!
Don't fear failure. Chase your dreams! Write ridiculous, random blogs out of nowhere like this!
I believe in you!
Also, remember to get sleep. Perfection definitely won't come to the tired.
