Homemade Studio Ghibli themed Settlers of Catan board

   0

This past winter, I worked on a Studio Ghibli-themed Catan board for a friend, given as a gift. Because the board was based on a lite version of Catan I have, some of the tiles are attached together, offering limited variations in the playstyle. There were plans to have alternate art on the reverse of each tile but, due to time constraints, that feature was nixed and the quality of some of the art suffered as well. Regardless, I think this is a cool project that some community members might appreciate. Since I wasn't a Destructoid member when I first posted this collection on Imgur, I figured it was worth a repost. Enjoy!

Nearly finished board.

Here is the nearly completed version of the board. You can see that one of the tiles, the #10 down at the bottom, wasn't finished yet at this point. Some of the edges still needed to be trimmed and the coloring patched up, but that's about it.

Some of the tiles.

Clockwise from the top, you can see Princess Mononoke, Lapute: Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away, and Howl's Moving Castle. The ports along the border are from Ponyo and My Neighbor Totoro.

Some of the tiles.

Here you can see some Porco Rosso (which I have yet to actually see, unfortunately), Princess Mononoke, Grave of the Fireflies occupying the desert space (obviously), My Neighbor Totoro, and The Wind Rises.

Some of the tiles.

More from My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, and Laputa: Castle in the Sky. Ports are more of Ponyo as well as Kiki's Delivery Service.

Not pictured: Tales from Earthsea and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind tiles.

Hope you liked it! Currently figuring out plans for a second, higher-quality board thanks to the knowledge I learned from my mistakes on this first one. Oh, and it won't be Studio Ghibli themed...
