To those who do not know, which is all of you. I recently moved away from everything I've ever known to a brand new city for a job in my career field. While it has been incredibly busy and exciting to start something new, I have not had more than a few hours in the past two weeks to sit down and properly game. Hence the short or absent posts for the past few weeks. Well this week I finally moved into a house and got my computer set up for some well deserved solidary game time as internet had yet to be installed (writing this at a library, support your community folks!)
As I sat in a house by myself in a city where the people I was closest with were at least an hour away, many much further I searched my installed game library for games that promoted a feeling of unity and togetherness to help combat the inherent lonliness. I then realized I own way too many single player games that are based on survival or put out a feeling of being alone. FTL, The Long Dark, Dark Souls, The Forest, and LISA. All give off a similar feeling of being alone and the struggle to survive through whatever life will throw at you. It's all fun and games (HAH HA) until you are living it for real for a few weeks. So what's the point? Make sure to appreciate those near to you and not take time with loved ones for granted, because you don't know when it won't be so convienent to see the people that love and support you.
With that, why not ignore your friends pleading for you to come out with them on a Friday night by playing games with these people online!
New to Friday Night Fights? It's easy to get involved!
FIRST OFF, READ THIS
Every Friday the Dtoid community gets together to play games online! Friday Night Fights is run completely by the Destructoid community, so feel free to join in someone's game, or host a game yourself!
The planning for FNF starts here in the forums, where community members volunteer to host matches and post their pertinent details (game, time, Steam ID, etc.). Then, every Friday, remininder posts go up in the cblogs followed by a recap post in the front page for last-minute planning.
If you'd like to join a game, just contact the host of the game! If you'd like to host a game, post your details in the following format:
Game Name
Host: Dtoid username
Steam ID: Steam contact info (If you'd prefer to use something other than Steam for people to contact you, please specify here.)
Time: Time (Eastern Please!)Server: (If any)
Password: (If any)
Note: Any other applicable info about the game.
See you online!
