PS Friday Night Fights: Life "Improvements" Edition

   0

PSYCHE!!! There really is no serious life improvements I have to discus here today. Instead I can just say that things are vaguely looking up for me. What this means right now is not very easy to say because it is just how I am feeling. It could be that my gut knows something and something good is coming. Or it could just be that summer is here, the undisputable best season bro and it'll be a happy couple of months partying, skating and playing good games. I have however decided to revamp my work out a little. Not that I'm trying to turn myself into a muscle bound meathead but I'd like to think my effort and dedication could potentially produce something. Since the last time I've been regularly working out I have added a pretty important factor to my routine, and that is playing with weights. Normally I would have just set a max weight and like an idiot do a bunch of reps with that. Now I'll have a more dynamic approach by varying that across sets of reps. Anyway this probably won't change too much but I can tell you I already feel like it's an imporvement, my arms and chest are nice and tight, way it ought to be, tighter than my workouts made me previously.

Additionally I've run into a little trouble with my skateboard wheels, the one stubborn wheel seemed to be spinning rather slow. It was slow to accelerate and then it stopped much sooner. Something was up so I got to taking apart the thing to find I've been ripped off sorta. A month ago I went in to to get some new skateboard bearings. The old ones had seen better days. Despite going out of my way to buy special bike grease and harmful chemicals to clean them, two were not salvageable because they had rusted to absolute shit. Rust is the no turning back of bearing condition. I was pretty bummed, especially considering I worked really hard to clean and grease the remaining ones and thought I did a good job. Well I did an okay job, they spin, even fast but only when made to spin. By themselves they are very resistant and won't spin if you flick them with your finger. Anyway I went to the skateshop because I just couldn't skate on three wheels (only 6 bearings) and wanted to buy a new pack.

I was going to buy the standard, Bones Reds, just like I've always rode. Actually the new middle tier of Reds that the shop guy pushed on me nearly eight months ago were really good quality for the money you pay. But I digress. This time, some intern (interns suck) pushed a higher level of bearings on me, a level that was beyond me for a long time just because I didn't have the extra fifty bucks or so lying around. I thought what the hell and just went with it. Bones Swiss, they're some of the best quality bearings you can stick on your skateboard. Now I can testify to this, it was a great choice. They last long, I've had plenty of water scares but not a single indication of rust to be found on any of them, a month later. But this is where the problem comes up. One of my bearings, one of the ones from the slow spinning wheel, was my old Reds. I remember I had brought them into the shop in case I could just get two loosies and not have to buy a whole pack. I'll defend the guy a bit the two are almost identical except that the Bones Swiss Say "Bones Swiss 808" while the other ones say "Reds China Bones" on them. Otherwise identical.

Yeah one of the bearings fell off the counter and he couldn't find it. Or I didn't feel like waiting. Or whatever happened. The old ones are still in the bag I brought them in and none of them are the Swiss. So the dude must've by mistake put one of my old bearings into the wheel along with the seven Swiss ones I bought and the eighth was the one that dropped. That really just sucks and it's a shame I only just realized till now but I'll be going in to see what I can get to alleiviate this situation. Of course I'm not a dick and don't want to get anyone fired but I at least want something for the trouble. It feels like I've been violated. Well anyway I will say again. Up until now when the wheel has started acting up, The Swiss bearings have been absolutely phenomenal. 10/10 would buy again... just an entire pack. Haha Next time I'll just make sure to put them on myself, it's not really that hard to do.

I do wonder though, there may have been a few moments when my board seemed to go apeshit randomly. A couple moments I thought one of the wheels stalled on me while skating (worst thing to happen honsetly) maybe that was what happened and it was the old bearing. Maybe I really did a shit job and should from now on just be safe rather than sorry in trying to clean out my old bearings and making a death trap for myself.

Anyway I'm really grasping for straws here. It's time, you know what time it is.

Games Bro!!

Nanashi

Welcome to the Playstation side of Friday Night Fights! Every Friday, members of the community get together online to play games and all you need to join is a user account. Down below, you'll find a list of games that we'll play tonight along with the times they'll start, the people that you should hit up for invites, and any other information that you may need.

If you want to play, leave a comment with the games from the schedule you want to play and your PSN name. You should also send a PSN friend request to the host and mention your username here in the message so they know you're one of the cool people and not just some random friend request.

If your favorite game isn't on the schedule, host it yourself! You just need to give us the game, start time, and your PSN name so people know what, when and who. It's also wise to list DLC requirements, game or server names, and anything else people might need to join just so you don't need to message it to everyone individually. Last minute additions in the comments here are fine, but games can also be added earlier in the week by visiting the forums and finding the thread with the coming Friday's date. Adding a game there ensures it's on the blog from the moment it goes up.

Welcome to the home of PlayStation Friday Night Fights.

Friday Night Fights is a weekly event where we, community members, cooperate with or murder each other online. There is a forum thread for planning and then a blog post here with the final schedule. Keep an eye out for both them if you want to play some games.

If you are new to the whole thing, check this out: FNF FAQ: Everything you need to know (but never asked) about Friday Night Fights

The Guide

To Play

Keep yourself up to date on the schedule. The list in the forums can change several times throughout the week.

Leave a message with your PSN name and which games from the schedule you want to play. More people will play if other people are playing, so speak up.

Send a PSN friend request to the person hosting the game which includes a message with your Dtoid name. If you leave out who you are on the site, they might think you're just a random friend request and ignore you.

To Host

If you want your game listed on the schedule, we need the game, the time, and your PSN ID. We need the specific game, not an abbreviation that applies to more than one; a start time, even if you're playing "all night"; and we need your PSN ID even if you think we know it already.

Don't worry about hosting the same game or hosting a game at the same time as someone else. Instead, think of it like a movie theater; more than one game can run at the same time.

Make sure you have at least an hour to play. That's only two or three matches of the average shooter and those go by pretty quick.

Check the comments, on both the forum post and the cblog when it goes up on Friday, to see if someone has said they'll play. You might have missed their PSN message or your friend list might be full.
