My E3 2015 Wishful Predictions

   0

E3 is only a week away. We’ve already seen some official announcements, as well as some leaks. I’ve been thinking a lot of what I’d like to see, and figured I’d write a list. This list, however, isn’t exactly a wishlist, but more of a list of things I’d like to see that I also believe could actually happen, based off rumors, statements, and more. So let's get to it!

The Last Guardian (PS4) - The Last Guardian was originally announced for PlayStation 3 back in 2009. Since then, there have been several E3’s without the game showing, or Sony even making a peep. On top of that, there have been rumors for years of people leaving the project, or the game even being outright cancelled. Through it all, Sony swears the game is still in development. My thought? The game only got so far in development for PS3, when they decided to port it over to the PS4. It’s already been over a year since the PS4 has launched, and with the recent rumor that the game was cancelled, now would be a good time to show the world that the game is still alive and kicking. I’m not holding my breath, but I would definitely like to see this happen.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (Wii U) - I never played a Monster Hunter game before MH4U. I picked it up for my New 3DS, and I love it. However, I often find myself wanting to play the game on my TV. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate came out for Wii U alongside the 3DS version, with cross save and other features. I would love to have a Wii U version to play on the TV while I’m at home, and then play the 3DS version on the go. This could easily be my favorite announcement out of E3 if it were to come true.

Star Fox (Wii U) - This one is a given. The game was announced at E3 2014, and it was shown to a select handful of people, but has otherwise gone unseen since. I’m expecting a full official announcement of the game, with a gameplay trailer, and maybe even amiibo support. However, Nintendo has said multiple times that the game will be out in 2015, but I feel that it's going to fall back to a Spring 2016 release.

The Legend of Zelda (Wii U) - The new Zelda has fallen to a 2016 tentative release due to new developments. Plus, Nintendo has stated that we won’t be seeing anything new from the game during E3. That said, I wouldn’t mind even just a status report from Nintendo, giving us a basic outline as to what to expect from the game. I doubt Nintendo is going to say much on Zelda, if anything, but a little something would be nice.

Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4/XB1) - Kingdom Hearts 3 is another game that was announced, we got a couple short trailers, and it hasn’t been seen since. With Square Enix ramping up for the release of Final Fantasy XIV’s Heavensward expansion, Final Fantasy XV, and more, seeing a little more of Kingdom Hearts 3. That said, it also wouldn’t surprise me if we didn’t see much more of Kingdom Hearts 3 yet, as Final Fantasy XV is due out… sometime.

Mother 3 (Wii U/3DS Virtual Console) - For several years, fans have been asking for Mother 3 to come to the US. Fans have gone as far as translating the game for English speaking fans to get their chance to play it. Reggie has even stated he’d like to bring it to the US as well. EarthBound even sold out on Club Nintendo for a short amount of time. Now that we’re in an age where digital distribution is cheaper and easier than ever, and with EarthBound’s continual popularity, a Virtual Console release of Mother 3 would be a no brainer. The development costs would be lower than remaking the game, since they'd only have to put money toward porting the existing game, and translation. Hell, Nintendo could even pay for the fan translation of the game to save themselves time, if both sides were willing. Or Nintendo could even go a step further and release a fully remade 3DS version with Ness and Lucas amiibo support, but the VC release seems more likely.

Smash Bros DLC (Wii U/3DS) - Nintendo seems intent on continuing support of Smash Bros for the foreseeable future. With Lucas out soon, there are no more announced fighters coming to the game. There have been supposed hints to other characters coming to Smash, not to mention the ballot on their official site. E3 would be a great time to announce more fighters and content. While the fighters rumored are a possibility, I’d like to see something new, and a Nintendo character over a third party character (not to mention I can’t even imaging how Ryu would fit in with the rest). Give me some Inklings, please!

The “end” of Smash amiibo - We are basically near the end of the Smash Bros series of amiibo. With only a few characters left unannounced, I feel like we’re going to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Nintendo has stated that they plan on releasing the DLC characters as amiibo in the future, but I feel we’re going to get our final Smash “wave” of amiibo announced, with the others coming out alongside new amiibo series. Plus, with the Smash amiibo out of the way, maybe we’ll see more shelf space for newer amiibo in the near future.

Well, those are my E3 predictions. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if none of these happen, however I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw some of these become reality as well. With E3 starting next week, only time will tell. Hopefully we'll get some of these rad games, and more, out of E3 this year!
