Hello there, my fellow Dtoiders.
I already have a blog – feel free to not take a look if you’d like. It has no content at the moment anyway, so I won’t even bother linking it. Besides, it’ll completely in Dutch when I’ll bother writing articles for it again.
Anyway, I was pondering for a while what my introductory Cblog’d be. At first, I thought I’d just throw a bunch of pictures of my collection of games, anime, and everything related at you, but I’m gonna save that for later. Mainly because it’ll take some time to do and I fear it’s a bit too much to stash in a single post. Instead I’m just gonna steal someone else’s idea, post ten things “about me” and make it an AMA.
So, here we go.
My favorite anime of all time is Tonari to Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro).
It’s truly a movie for kids and I absolutely adore it. This movie is simply pure magic. Nothing of note happens, but it's just adoringly wonderful and it makes me grin from ear to ear.
I have a slight tendency to become a bit obsessed with things.
When I like something, I tend to go all-in. Really all-in. I spend a lot of time on it, I spend way too much money on it, and I even might throw aside more important things. Luckily, I learned to control myself a bit more over the years, so it's not bound to happen again anytime soon.
I am a leg guy.
I know it's not really a snowflaky thing to say, but well-shaped legs and long legs just draw my attention. I love it when a girl squats, I truly do.
I used to be active in the fansubbing scene.
Let me tell you this, the fansubbing scene is a wretched hive of scum and villainy and it should die already. With Crunchyroll, Funimation and all other streaming services available, I really see no need for fansubbers to still wank their e-peen on a weekly basis and throw shit at each other because the other group's "typsetting" sucks or their "karaoke" hurts their precious loli-adoring eyes. The bickering within groups is also rather tiresome. Kami-sama forbid you don't do your "job" in a timely manner. All hell breaks loose.
I used to bash things I had no knowledge about.
And the people who liked them. Man, at times, I was nothing short of a troll. Case in point, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer. I brandished it as a childish series. Vampires were shit and people who liked it were out of their mind. Then I actually watched an episode and fell in love with it.
Luckily, I grew over this mindset.
Statistically, I might be a 50+-year-old woman.
In 2013 I was diagnosed with and treated for a meningioma, a type of brain tumor that's mostly found in older women. Apart from some scarring, a burn wound on my right hand, and hair that never fully grew back after receiving radio therapy, I'm mostly okay. Thankfully.
I prefer “easy” games.
My attention span has considerably worsened over the years, so my go-to games are usually the ones that hardly have a learning curve and can be played in short bursts, like Diablo 3, Muramasa Rebirth and all the incarnations of the Warriors games. Every now and then, I do play games that require my brain to do some work, but you likely won't see me enjoying a game that requires me to press a plethora of buttons in short order to pull off same crazy-ass attack.
I have three tattoos.
On my left arm, there’s Death from Neil Gaiman’s Sandman series of comics. Great story, by the way, I highly recommend it. Sadly, the tattoo doesn't look all that good.
On my right arm I have the Friend logo from 20th Century Boys — like my avatar here on Dtoid — and Saber's Command Spell from Fate/Stay Night.
As a kid I managed to put the fire department to work.
Dry grass burns well. A bit too well. And it spreads fast. A bit too fast. Nobody got hurt, though, so there's that.
I like Saber.
I'd totally replenish her magic.
