Nintendo Friday Night Fights: The End of An Era

As was announced earlier this week, Nintendo is shutting down online services for all Wii and DS games that used it. You'll still be able to use the shops, and entertainment services (like Hulu, Netflix, etc.,) but no more online multiplayer. As of now, it looks like this takes effect on May 20 of this year.

Sad times. Because of this, I'd like to encourage you guys to host DS or Wii titles until it all goes away. There are a some good game still online for both systems! Some Wii examples include: Battalion Wars 2, The Conduits, the still fun Goldeneye 007, The Last Story, Mariokart Wii, Smash Bros. Brawl, Tatsunoko VS Capcom, Dr. Mario Online Rx, and Excitebike: World Rally.
For the DS, there's always Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, Diddy Kong Racing, Mariokart DS, Metroid Prime Hunters, the Pokemon games, Tetris DS, Tecmo Bowl: Kickoff, Picross, Worms: Open Warfare 2, Custom Robo Arena, and so forth.

I think a send-off is in order.

New to Friday Night Fights? It's easy to get involved!

Each week, a bunch of us Dtoiders get together to play videogames online! It's a 100% community-run event, so feel free to join in or even host something yourself!

The planning for FNF starts in the forums, where community members volunteer to host matches and post their pertinent details (game, time, Nintendo ID, etc.). Then, every Friday, reminder posts go up here in the C blogs followed by a recap post on the front page on the front page for last-minute planning.

To join in, simply send a friend request to the match host! (Don't forget to say you're from Dtoid!) If you'd rather host something yourself, just post your details below in the following format:
