LONG BLOG

A Backlog Diary: Part 6- Scores so far, SotC HD and GoW III

   0
This blog entry's primary purpose is to merely restate what I said before about my finished games since the beginning of 2011, as well as list those of the "To Do" list. I have summarised my opinion with a dreaded numeric score.

10- A highlight of the generation.
9- Sure to be memorable
8- A damn good example of the genre
7- Pretty darn good
6- Not too bad, had some fun
5- Mediocre, not a rip off, but not exactly the gaming equivelant of The Shawshank Redemption
4- Rather flawed, perhaps with some redeeming features
3- A regretful purchase
2- Full of flaws to the point of being no fun
1- An insult to gaming.

Because I'm not a paid gaming journalist, it seems unlikely I'm going to be duped into too many 1's or 2's, but who knows!

Also, an update on my progress. I have now started God of War III, and despite my bad history with the God of War entries on both the PS2 and PSP (I didn't like them) this one is enough of a spectacle to have got me slightly hooked, so I should think I'll have a report on this one soon.
I have also this week finished Shadow of the Colossus which I have rewarded an 8. This is mainly because I'm fully aware that this is a PS2 port, and some of that really shows, but it was regadless a brilliant game. I felt genuinly weird about the ending, and despite the fun I had bringing the big bastards down, the montage during the credits of their fallen bodies was rather sad, especially considering what it had actually achieved. Not going to start Ico just yet, as I need some stupid mindless pretty action before I tackle anything "so shallow it's actually deep". Hence why God of War III is next. It was to be Killzone 2, but I'm having real issues with using a controller for an FPS, and need an alternative control method. Any ideas would be appreciated, as well as what to tackle after GoW III.

Tata.

About The Villainthropistone of us since 10:07 AM on 08.05.2008

A gamer since the age of 4. I like pretty much all genres, and now that I can afford them, all systems. I'm looking for a new co-op game which won't suck me in for a year and a half. Please give AMD Eyefinity compatible gaming PC's generously (never mind, got one).

I would now consider myself a PC gamer primarily, but have grown up with consoles all my life. Whilst a bit of depth and plot are much appreciated, I tend to gravitate towards online FPS's and racing games.

I've been on a bit of a hiatus from posting here at the Dtoid C-Blogs, mainly due to my voluntary position at PureSophistry.com. Click the link to see my stuff.
