Even with the steady stream of awesome-sounding updates, I can't say I'm as excited as I probably ought to be for the PlayStation Vita. All of the features sound great, and even the games I'm not that interested in look fabulous... but I'm still not sold. I was a first-day adopter with the PSP, and it let me down pretty quickly, so I'm still a bit burned. Sure, there are some great titles that came out for the PSP, and a few more still due, but for the most part, the library was kind of lackluster.
I really hope the soundtrack's even remotely like the music they selected for the trailer, because the only thing than blaring incomprehensible metal wherever I walk is commanding tiny guys killing huge guys while I'm at it. While there've been some concerns that the formation options seemed to have little impact in the demo, I anticipate them playing a much larger roll in the full game, so I'm looking forward to how the strategy side of things plays out.
If nothing else, I want to play through the story, so I know what I'm getting into for the inevitable sequel, Army Corps Of Engineers Of Hell. I can't wait to build bridges and dredge lava flows in the afterlife. Thanks, Squenix, for likely selling me a new handheld come... whenever the Vita is due out.
