Is that the best way to explain this post?
Last Sunday I went to go and see Transformers : Dark Side Of The Moon. BAYGASM!!!! Now this was my introduction to the Transformers series, although I sat through half of number 1, then fell asleep though not by choice, and forgot everything that happened.
My friend and I went the whole shebang (is that one word?). 3-D, Imax, £7 popcorn etc etc. I was utterly astounded. Fine the story wasn't great, and the acting was average, but watching giant, CGI, robots that transform halfway into robot from car, than back to car, gave me a sense of enjoyment I haven't felt in a long time.
Not since I was playing Rayman Advance on my GameBoy Advance did I feel this pure, raw enjoyment. I was like a 4-year old chasing fireflies...I wonder if kids still do that. My mouth dropped and I felt a tingle...no not a tingle, a shock run through my body for two-thirds of the movie, and not just when Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was on (I apologise for any female readers, but forgive my primitive, 14 year old, male instincts.)
Randomness is so awesome.
Anyway back to buisness, if you call the moronic rantings of a 14 year old boy who has longer hair than his sister, buisness.
Where's that feeling gone? That delicious, incredible feeling that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside when you get something that is someone has poured their soul into and so, you appreciate it to the fullest extent that exists?
When I was young, I don't remember moaning about patches or bugs or poor enemy AI, I took the game for what it was rather than what it could be. I guess that's the main problem. Maybe I just expect too much.
I don't know. I'm really confused. Maybe I should just start playing RPG's more.
