Welcome to the name change ceremony! Debatoid will soon become MassDebate! The same great debating flavor you know and love but with none of the using of the "-toid" term!
In the spirit of the MassDebate, we have some new topics that we need candidates for! Please use these comments to register your interest if you would like to debate in any of the forthcoming topics:
Has genre distinction lost its relevance?
Is there enough gender diversity in videogames?
Is there enough racial diversity in videogames?
Are videogames too focused on destruction?
Are videogames addictive?
Is system diversity more harmful than beneficial to the consumer?
Is "sequelitis" excessive in the videogame industry?
Will the term "videogames" become obsolete by the next century?
Do full price retail releases have to promise a certain amount of play time?
Has rhythm action gaming had its heyday?
Has nostalgia papered over the cracks in retro gaming?
Is DRM more the fault of piracy or corporate greed?
Do this by listing them in order of preference (top being favorite topic, bottom least favorite) and then put alongside each whether you would argue FOR or against.
Thanks for checking this out and I hope to see you all soon! Results for the last Debatoid will be up soon, and we will have a brand new MassDebate all laid out later in the week!
Just so you guys know, the decision to change Debatoid to MassDebate was entirely my own. I chose to rebrand my feature because I didn't think it fair that I was trading on the -toid name, but nobody pushed me into making that decision. I have no intention on doing this to distance myself from Destructoid, and MassDebate remains a Destructoid cblog series.
AwesomeExMachina Will Mario still be New and Super in 2036? The proposition: Super Mario platformers will still be released to critical acclaim and commercial success in 25 years time.
Debatoid accepts the proposition!
