Thus far, we have 31 participants in the SSFIV Ranbat 1. That's a lot of players and this will be a long tournament. If we stick to the schedule with 1 round per week, this ranbat will run about 9 weeks. If we can expedite the rounds, we can wrap this up sooner than that, which is something I'd like to do. If everyone prioritizes their games, we should be able to speed this process up. I'm still working with KD Alpha on the final rules but I do reserve the right to change them to fit the format I plan on running.
Ideally, this tournament will lead into a series of tournaments covering the majority of fighters on the PS3. I plan to weigh each ranbat equally so that each individual is ranked within a game as well as overall in the community. I will run ranbats for all of the games I'm interested in and then see if we have time or interest for more titles. That said, I do not plan on running Tekken, Battle Fantasia, Soul Calibur IV or MvC2 ranbats.
Season 1 ranbats will be SSFIV, King of Fighters XII, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift and HD Remix. SSFIV should wrap up in mid-July. I don't expect much interest in KoF XII so I figure that one will wrap up in a few weeks. BB:CS hits stores in late July, so I figure early August will be a good time for that. Whenever that's finished, HD Remix will run. The season ender will be a round robin tournament using the SSFIV DLC tournament function. I'll assign people into groups and they'll play through the bracket and the winners of these will move into the finals. Once the rules are finalized, I'll post them here and in the sign up threads. Feel free to leave feedback in the comments.
Let's do this!
