Two weeks ago my girlfriend gave birth to our first child; a beautiful baby daughter. There was wheezing, crying and screaming, and the baby made quite a lot of noise too. Without doubt, the labour process was the most terrifying and grotesque things to witness, yet without doubt providing the most beautiful outcome.
Just like this contraption, the key is balance. Irrespective of my continued interest in videogames and my insistence among my peers that it remains the most interesting and captivating entertainment medium going, my daughter will be my first priority. If videogames become too great a burden on my time or wallet, then I will sacrifice my 360, PS3 and Wii for the sake of my child. However, in the meantime, I will take a leaf from my time playing the Sims, and balance my activities as best I can, and attempt to prove that being a gamer and a responsible parent is not a mutually exclusive pursuit.
