as most of you know, Eurogamer released 20,000 beta codes yesterday. I happened to be one of the 20,000 to get one. After spending yesterday and today playing, (5 or so hours total, not much) I feel confident in saying I like it.
I honestly didn't think Treyarch could do anything even with the Call of Duty 4 engine, but they've used it in a way that isn't a total disgrace. It's not as good as Call of Duty 4, but definitely a welcome refreshment to the gameplay. The controls are exactly the same, so right off the bat you feel right as home, shooting foreigners. Weapons feel very similar, no matter what class of weapon they are. The voice overs (like, enemy recon airborne for example) are kinda cheesy, but don't really make anything suck. I find that the running animation is very strange at first, but you get used to it very quickly.
Overall, aside from some connection issues which make your bullets seem like they don't hit, its very fun in my opinion. When I was trying to play super competitively, I noticed I'd play like shit. When playing just for fun, I'd beast. So, basically, this beta has convinced me of enough. I'm buying the game, and to everyone else, I'll see you on the battlefield in November.
