Console: Playstation 3
To put it lightly, I'm not having much fun. I don't know about you guys, but I've grown up and I don't have the time I used to as a kid to play games. This makes Megaman really frustrating when I've been playing for half an hour and I'm still in the same damn level.
I'm going to try and tread lightly because any time someone dislikes a game or a franchise that's been around since their childhood, things can get extremely emotional.
The good thing about this game is that it was
only $10. It is worth what I paid for and not a penny more. The problem I'm having is that it does force you to learn a level right down to every pixel which stops it from making it a "pick up and play" game. Some people may find this challenge refreshing. I think it's a waste of time. I'm not advancing, and frankly, I just don't care to if it's going to take me so damn long. Like I said, my patience for games doesn't run very long because of my limited time. There are far too many games out there to be focusing on one for this long and not go anywhere with it.
As for the visuals, I've learned to accept them. I personally would have loved a super high resolution 2D Megaman game (I enjoyed Megaman 8). I know that Capcom needed something to get people talking, and 8-bit graphics on a modern game did just that.
I do understand that people enjoy the visuals, but what I find silly is when I say I would have liked high resolution sprites and people tell me the graphics don't matter. Then they'll turn around and grow boners over the fact that it's 8-bit. Didn't you just say it didn't matter? I sense some hypocrisy there, no?
I'm not saying 8-bit is ugly. In fact, I'm enjoying the novelty. The soundtrack is excellent as well. I personally
would have preferred it to look like I was playing an actual cartoon.
I can see the appeal of this game for some people. I, however, am growing more and more frustrated with each restart. I don't shout in glee whenever I beat a level. I sigh in relief and think, "Thank fucking Christ" and wish I don't come back.
I'm just not into it... P.S. - I'll continue playing it. Don't think of this as a review.
